Valter D. Longo is an Italian-American biogerontologist and cell biologist renowned for his research in fasting, nutrient response genes, cellular protection, aging, and diseases. His work proposes that longevity is regulated by similar genes across many eukaryotes. Currently, Longo is a professor at USC Davis School of Gerontology with joint appointments in biological sciences, and directs the USC Longevity Institute.
